| Attached are lots of pic's of Chiffchaffs all caught this winter at Rye Meads - Lee Valley (2000-1). The labels are the ring numbers. 1Y2120 is a few years old so is a definite adult. You will notice variation in colour and length/width of super. I have also taken lots of shots of undersides, and am finding lack of yellow on undertail coverts very variable, from almost white to heavily streaked bronze/yellow. I don't know if this means any thing, it may do if you have other tristis characteristics. Some of these birds could probably be abeatinus, but none are tristis - a brave man would label them!
