It was certainly of that family (mustela), had white underside and brownish body with a black tail tip. Size also eliminated weasel (which are relatively common here) and was right for stoat. Does anyone know if it could be anything else (e.g escaped ferret?). Anyone know anything about a Firecrest reported at Horsenden Hill by Birdguides on 12th January? Whipps Cross: just to say that gulls were passing n.e. on an unusually narrow front this evening. A widely spread 2,500 would normally be good from here, but a continuous stream of up to 8,500 in a 25 minute period either side of sunset seemed exceptional. All the expected commoner species of course but I still couldn`t pick out any Meds - Peter Hadrill
